Bangladeshi expatriates and other travellers who have been pressing for improved services at two of the country’s major regional airports have had their wishes granted, thanks to a successful new collaboration between Biman Bangladesh Airlines and SITA, the air transport IT specialist.

Bangladesh celebrates British election victory

Hundreds of people took to the streets on Saturday and ate sweets in the northeastern Bangladesh city of Sylhet to celebrate the election of the first person of Bangladeshi origin to Britain’s parliament.

Rushanara Ali, 35, stood for Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s Labour Party and won the east London seat of Bethnal Green and Bow with a comfortable majority in Thursday’s general election.

Govt to ease property registration

The government is trying to eliminate corruption from all organisations responsible for property transfers, and is modernising the land registration system, said the land minister yesterday.

These new steps are meant to help the country attract more investment and boost the economy, said Rezaul Karim Hira.
